What makes Norwich's most exciting, alternative and inclusive licensed wedding venue so unique?
Hi everyone, I hope July is treating you well so far. A warm welcome to all new followers on our SOCIALS!
Covid lockdown won’t get us down!! We are really eager to show our new prospective couples around the venue as soon as we are able; and we have some very exciting celebrations coming up! We cannot wait to host all manor of life’s celebrations as soon as we are able. In the meantime, we thought we would explore what sets our venue apart from the rest...and makes our quirky former church the most exciting licensed venue in Norwich.
Our vision for the Flint Room was to create a relaxed and friendly environment where EVERYONE is welcome for all of life’s celebrations. Although we haven’t hosted any LGBTQ+ weddings as yet, we are very excited to in 2021. Trish and myself believe that love is love and all love is to be celebrated!
Our fine city is celebrating Pride on 25th of this month. ‘NORWICH PRIDE has one mission: to ensure that we live in a city where everyone can feel safe and proud to be themselves. Pride is a registered charity, fuelled by hard-working volunteers and supported by our allies, local businesses, organisations and groups in Norwich and Norfolk’’. Instead of lining the streets with a rainbow parade as has been done in previous years, Norwich Virtual Pride will be online this year due to the pandemic as public safety is paramount. We very much look forward to tuning in on July 25th.
Not only is the Flint Room based in the very heart of Norwich City, with easy access to central reception locations; it is also accessible (to the very best of our abilities) and wheelchair friendly, as inclusivity is our number one priority. We have made sure that absolutely everyone has easy access and can feel relaxed and cared for in our beautiful setting.
From a young age, many dream of the traditional church wedding, with fairytale images in mind. Our magnificent flint building is a former church! This means you get to have and to hold your big day with the incredible vibe and pictures of a medieval church and wedding of your childhood dreams, without the religious views you may not/no longer have or hold. Non religious ceremonies with soul for those who dare to be different.
Have you ever heard of a church with a private bar before? The Flint Room is a licensed venue complete with a ‘Pimp My Prosecco’ bar, to be filled with whatever refreshments and nibbles you wish. Bar staff included; as our team will serve your guests on arrival or after the ceremony. Your day, your way! No extra costs!
We are located just at the top of Ber Street in Norwich, leaving you your pick of central reception venues, all walkable, with amazing City centre wedding photograph opportunities! One couple last year lead an old fashioned wedding procession on foot, with all of their guests walking behind them through the City to the Rumsey Wells Pub for their reception; this made for amazing photographs as the centre of Norwich is very picturesque and the day was made even more special by an abundance of lovely waves and shouts of congratulations from passers by. The ceremony at the Flint Room and parading through the streets of Norwich were the two biggest highlights of their day!
When we say ‘everyone is welcome’, we mean everyone! The Flint Room is a child friendly venue. As avid vintage treasure collectors we didn’t just cater for the shabby-chic loving adults! We have a fine fleet of miniature vintage cars for the little ones to have photo opportunities in! They are so cute and go down a storm making adorable pictures!
Even your pets are welcome! We love it when your furry family members are part of the ceremony…such a special touch for your unique celebration. We did say EVERYONE is welcome!
Once you’ve booked the Flint Room for your ceremony whether it be a wedding/vow renewal/baby naming or memorial you have use of the grounds so you and your guests can enjoy both the indoors and outdoors of the premises.
All of our couples comment on how much they adore the weird and wonderful decor, which make for wedding pictures fit for a ‘Rock n Roll Bride’ (and Groom) - we even have the approved Rockstar Vendor Badge to prove it, having been featured on the ROCK N ROLL BRIDE BLOG earlier this year!
We encourage diversity and believe that every ceremony should be unique. Please feel free to bring any musicians of your choice to perform and we will work with you to achieve your own personal ceremony with soul.
